Where do you teach?

I am a traveling piano teacher providing in-home lessons in the Bethesda, MD area.

Do I need a piano at home?

Having the right instrument to learn on is just as important as having the right teacher. Students must have access to a piano for lessons and for daily practice. While acoustic pianos are usually best, there are a few electric keyboards that can meet the needs of the beginning pianist.

Which electric keyboard should I get?

If your child is serious about learning piano, make sure you purchase a keyboard with:

  • 88 Keys
  • Keys with weighted action (very important for technique development)
  • An adjustable stand + bench
  • A sustaining pedal

I highly recommend the Yamaha P71 Digital Piano for beginner and intermediate students.

When can my child begin taking lessons?

Every child is different, but generally children are ready to begin piano lessons between 5 1/2 and 6 years old. On occasion, children younger than 5 are considered for lessons. Their acceptance into this studio is dependent on their pre-reading readiness, size of hand, fine motor development and interest in making music.

Do you teach adults?

Yes, yes yes! Adults of any age and ability are more than welcome!
